Excel brewing Co. "Lefty's Lager"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without freshness dating
$2.17 @ Beer Belly's Beverage, State College, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Clear golden body beneath a finger-thick head of bright white foam that drops shortly leaving no lacing behind as it goes. Aroma of sweet bready malt with only background hops. The flavor delivers more graininess in the malt, and a light touch of floral, lightly grassy, and spicy hops. A moderate bitterness balances it and it finishes semi-dry as the sweetish and grainy malt steadily fades. Earthy and spicy hops are left to linger. Medium bodied and gently crisp then smooth across the palate. Overall a fairly decent rendition of a Munich-style helles that's satisfying and drinkable.

Pours a light good with a foamy white head that lasts quite a while. No discernable aroma. Taste like a true German beer. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

Pours like a domestic lager.
Smells of breadiness, and slight hop.
The amount of breadiness of a Helles Lager is a little lighter than I like, and the hop bite is a little much, but still a good Helles.
Very light, crisp, and refreshing offering.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, straw-yellow color with a good-sized, white head of foam. It smelled of caramel and floral notes. Light toasted caramel flavor with minimal bitterness.

Pours a clear, gold color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, hint of hop, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of a Munich Helles Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, hint of hops, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of yeast. Overall, better than average MHL, but nothing outstanding.

Pale, hazy and golden. The beer has a thin white head, and an ready, malt forward smell the taste is soft, slightly sweet, and malty, with a light herbal hop flavor. Medium body. Good.
