Amber colored with a somewhat hazy appearance. A fingernail thin wisp of very white foam covers the top. Cereal grains and a hint of uber citrus hops in the nose. The mouthfeel is a bit chalky. There's also perhaps a bit of damp sock in the aroma. The cereal grains dominate the front of the palate. I do get some of the hop flavor in the aftertaste. This does not compare well with the Widmer Citra blonde.

A - Poured out a slightly, hazy, golden orange color with a one-finger, white head of bubbly foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled of citrusy hops, caramel and grains.
T - Nice sweet caramel flavor with a touch of citrusy bitterness. Good balance.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale.
O - This was my first beer from Excel. I really enjoyed it as a nice, sessionable summer brew.
