Oh, man, their eastern neighbors get all the beer love, but I totally dig what is coming to me in CANs from the Granite State. Yeah, yinz CAN go chase all of the Lawson's & Hill Farmstead that you want, but I'm digging some NH goodness! Yesterday was my New CANned Henniker Beer Sunday (Week 733) & I left things unfinished at the end of the day. Time to include, vice exclude!

From the CAN: "New Hampshirites are a different breed. We take pride in voting first, our state motto, not wearing helmets, and shooting off fireworks legally. Sure, we may not have the warmest climate or the biggest coastline, but we do have some great brews. Some might call us weird, but we’re damn sure never gonna change. We’re #NewHampshireforDamnSure Damn Sure Double IPA is brewed once a month in limited quantities to ensure freshness and a bombastic hoppiness."

I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. About halfway in, I realized that clarity was not this beer's stong suit, so I ramped up my Glug speed. It responded by exploding with foam, eventually forming over two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention, leaving loads of lacing in its wake. Color was a deeply hazy/lightly cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had an emphasis on grapefruit, but I also got pineapple & mango in there. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but a little on the thin side for this style. Oh well. The taste was really intense - very evocative of a grapefruit/pineapple juice blend! I especially liked the way that these two flavors meshed, keeping it from being neither too bitter nor too sweet. There were some other fruit flavors going on in there, but those were the standouts. Finish was dry, but not really as bitter as the "80 IBU" as marked on the label. I CAN see drinking this one again!

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into a snifter. The beer is picked up from the brewery recently during NH visit.
Beer pours a fairly clear golden color, nice change of pace from the haze storm that has swept across New England. A creamy bleached white head foams up about 1.5 cm and fades to a sturdy edge layer and large island in the glass. I get some wispy lattice on my glass after each sip.
The aroma is olde school IPA, with pine sap, grapefruit rind, grassy notes and some biscuity malt buried in the background.
First sip reveals an average body with fine and gentle carbonation. Pretty crushable physical traits on this beer make it an easy drinker.
Flavor is some citrus but moves to rindy grapefruit and some pine sap. This finish is actually a little astringeny bitter like an aspirin, also very dry.
ABV is well hidden for 8.5% and the beer is drinkable. I dont find this to be much of NEIPA and enjoy the shift to a more classic DIPA. Nice hoppy, drinkable brew.

Great DIPA out of New Hampshire.
Pours a hazy amber ish hue with a semi-lingering head. Great malt aromatics with some citrus aromatics in the mix.
Awesome mouthfeel. Citrusy, juicy, slightly dank. This is a tasty 8.5% Imperial IPA.

Brewed only once a month for freshness!

Serving: Can
No date

A:
Pours a fairly hazy straw-gold
with three fingers of off-white head that settles to a gloppy coat. Ok retention; confetti lacing. (4)

S:
Light juniper, lime zest and white bread crust. (3.75)

T:
Clean, flat hop bitterness that follows the nose.  (3.75)

M:
Almost-thin body with pretty active carbonation and a dry finish. (3.75)

O:
A decent IIPA.
It looks nice, smells nice and tastes nice. All in all the hop bitterness is there but is fainter than I'd think for a double. There is a little pale malt flavor and a touch of citrus pith.
A fine beer all told but lacking a little oomph or direction one way or another. (3.75)
