Hop heads are always looking for what’s next, so we plan to keep you on your toes with this series. Look for the batch number on the bottom of your can and match it up with the batch numbers below for details on what's inside.

Out of the gate, it smells delicious. Peachy and citrus peel. Taste follows.

Problem is, for a NEIPA it feels thin. It looks thin. It's missing... something. But I can't put my finger on it.

I understand it's a rotating batch type, so it will never be exactly the same. I find that interesting. And kinda fun.

I filled a growler at my local beer store. Dont get me wrong, I will happily drink it, but I feel like it's missing something...

Cheers

Oh, man, their eastern neighbors get all the beer love, but I totally dig what is coming to me in CANs from the Granite State. Yeah, yinz CAN go chase all of the Lawson's & Hill Farmstead that you want, but I'm digging some NH goodness! Baby, I'm on a New CANned Henniker Beer Sunday (Week 733) kick today & now the soundtrack for this one is The Minutemen's "Double Nickels on the Dime". Man, I cried in December 1985 when news of D. Boon's death reached us at WCNI-FM in New London, CT.

From the rockin' CAN: "As the great Mark Twain once said, 'If you don’t like the weather in New England, just wait a minute.' Just like the conditions in New England, our rotating IPA is ever-changing. Hop heads are always looking for what’s next, so we plan to keep you on your toes with this series. Batch #3
Hop: Mosaic, Citra
Malt: Super Pale, Oats
Tasting Notes: Overwhelmingly tropical, mango, papaya, with subtle grassy hints

Yeah, I'm behind, but I'm CANtching up!I Crack!ed the vent & beCAN a slow, steady, gentle Glug that resulted in the instantaneous formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. The marvelous lacing that it left in its wake was stunning! Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose was definitely tropical, very much of mango & papaya with some guava and passionfruit thrown in for good measure. Grassy? Well, not so much. At least, not IMHO. Still, this was a VERY mellow AIPA & while I was interested, I was not satiated as a hophead. I CAN't tell you the IBUs, but I imagine that they were low.

Man, this was the sort of mellow that makes me want to pack a bowl or roll a J & fire up! I have generally eschewed any & all drugs with the exception of alcohol, but with my CANcer, I am leaning towards a medical card. Nothing hurts, but at least I would be covered.

Back to the beer. Finish was dry, perhaps drier than they had initially intended, given the hops, but it morphed into something nice. Still, I felt like I had an itch that was not being scratched. The hops monkey on my back was leaning back & about to start screeching, Ugh.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy golden/orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of oranges, light peaches. Taste is mostly of oranges, hints of mango and peaches, mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Had this on 2018-09-28 from a 16oz can with a best by date of 2018-08-21. It was a gift from my barber, which was nice.

A - Fairly-hazy yellow with a 1-finger white head that sticks around, leaving little lace.

S - Melon and berries. Honey. Light grass. Pilsner malt aroma. Sweet and inviting.

T - Melon, blueberry, honey, white bread, grass/herbal/pepper spice and very lightly dank. Bitterness is on the milder side for an IPA, which I appreciated. Good balance.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth. Drys out pretty well but the bit of sweetness on the finish compliments the experience.

O - This is a good. Even though it was past the best by date on the bottom of the can; it held up well and I enjoyed it.

Probably 6-9 months before dead. Still, has no hop profile. No particular hop aroma or taste. Won’t buy a Henniker IPA unless it has a 9-12 best by date. I hate best by dates. Can’t recommend this beer or brewery.

This review is for batch 002, brewed with Huell Melon and Citra hops, and Extra Pale and Torrified Wheat malts

Look- hazy golden orange w/a frothy 1 finger white head and a lot of lacing

Smell- mango, orange, berries

Taste- follows the nose with mango, tangy orange and something like blueberries, along with a little bitterness. Flavors seemed washed out or watered down, though

Feel- medium bodied and soft , slightly bitter finish

Overall- decent IPA, but the flavors could be a little fuller and more focused.

Many thanks to SawDog505 for this can!

A - Opaque pale orange tan color with frothy lacing.

S - Tropical fruit, red grapefruit, grapefruit rind, spicy, and cream aroma. All fruit and all hops in the nose, no malt.

T - Some grassiness, grapefruit rind, citrus, citrus rind, guava. Nice mild to moderate bitterness on the finish with some fruity sweetness.

M - Nice big medium body with light pricklies and a soft finish. Dry.

O - This is a pretty awesome IPA. Worth checking out.

Pint can. (First review Batch # unknown) Second review ** based on a can from batch #7. On Feb 12 2019. Tha includes Ella & Galaxy hops, with Super Pale malt)latest review from Untapped is below.....

A hazy straw gold color is New England style classic look. A very chunky, all white head recedes slow, leaves a decent amount of foamy coverage and big lacing.
** Super pale color of white hazy staw. Subtle golden hues.

The aroma has a deep tropical fruity hop scent, sweet citrus and pine cones. Light, sweet maltiness has honey soaked bready notes.
**From the hops: Mango, sweet pineapple, ripe white grapes and cotton candy.tropically sweet aromatics mostly!!.

A very chunky but crispy body and mouthfeel is very healthy and fresh feeling. Loads of tangy and sweet fruity tones from these hops. Pine sap, peppery citrus and sweet tropicals provide a pretty complex and interesting ipa experience. Some golden wheat and light grains in the malt, subtle sweetness and crisp edge to the malt provides an excellent balance for the style. Not sure which hop strains are involved here, but there is a bit of strange and unique sweet, white wine or grape juice taste at the end which is a bit odd. Otherwise, pretty classic.
** Light to medium bodied, easy drinking, smooth and lushin the middle, juicy hops, wicked smooth texture.

Batch # unknown. Ella & Vic Secret this time.
Wait A Minute: Vic Secret & Ella

Henniker Brewing Company

IPA New England / Hazy

No batch # on this one: Vic Secret and Ella hops are a nice balance of dry earthy grains and subtle currents of red berries and dry melon. Incredibly fluffy feel seems light as air. Piney and grapefruit notes pop out in the long finish.

Poured into a 13 oz Weyerbacher tulip glass best before 7/9/18. Pours a hazy light yellow, with a solid finger plus white head, that leaves a thick layer of lace behind as it slowly settles.

Smell is guava, papaya, with hints of mint and basil, with a little grapefruit rind.

Taste follows it is mainly tropical but that basil and mint thing is very subtle, but for me it is a part of it and not complaining at all. Rounds out with some grapefruit bitterness.

Mouthfeel is a big medium, soft carbonation, not dry at all, and incredible drinkability.

Overall this is excellent, can’t wait to dry each and every version. Well done.
