Oh, man, their eastern neighbors get all the beer love, but I totally dig what is coming to me in CANs from the Granite State. Yeah, yinz CAN go chase all of the Lawson's & Hill Farmstead that you want, but I'm digging some NH goodness! Sunday was my New CANned Henniker Beer Sunday (Week 733) & I left things unfinished at the end of the day. Time to include, vice exclude!
From the CAN: "Belgian Style Witbier"; "The grass is beginning to grow, flowers are starting to bud, and spring has finally made its way here. Open up the windows, bring out the deck furniture, fire up the BBQ, and crack open a [CAN] of Sprout! Our Belgian-Style Witbier is here to reawaken your senses with bright notes of lemon, orange, and coriander. Like a pillow for your mouth, this refreshing brew is here to kick out of mud season, and into the start of summer! Pair it with goat cheese, grilled fish, and neighborhood softball games!"
Having taken note of the beer's style, I did some in-CAN agitation before Crack!ing open the vent. Naturally, this led to a good bit of foaming that eventually formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with good retention following the Glug. Color was an absolutely cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), like freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Nose had a pleasant spicy wheatiness, like black pepper sprinkled over breakfast cereal. Mouthfeel was medium, about on par for the style. It was quite spicy in the mouth, perhaps a tad overdone in terms of its adjuncts, but not so much so as to render it undrinkable. It was quite refreshing, which is the intent behind this style. Finish was dry, a testament to its spice adjuncts. Not bad, but just not my cuppa. YMMV.

16 oz Can from Bert's
Pours a hazy dark yellow color with a decent bubbly white head that slowly recedes. Spicy clove and pepper with bits of coriander and an almost nutmeg feel to it. Belgian yeasty phenol's pretty easy to throw back a few.
