I used a “Stein” to serve this beer.
I bought this bottle in Galway while visiting Ireland in 2007. Since only the Diageo brands are sold in Belgium, I’m very happy I was able to acquire this.
The beer has a light red colour, much lighter then the Flemish Red. There’s a lot of carbonation swirling through. The head is sustained by the bubbles floating to the surface.
A nice thick brownish head crowns this scrumptious looking beer.
Against expectations, the scent is sweet, peach like.
The taste is liqueur like and sweet and sour. There is some yeast present, but it’s not really noticeable in the taste, it does show up in the aftertaste though. The aftertaste gives some annoying metallic taste as well and a tea like sensation.
The mouthfeel is strangely enough creamy. Afterwards it becomes dry.
This is a very drinkable beer, shame it’s so rare.
