Klosterbryggeriets Skt. Søren is a golden organic lager of 4.9%. The beer presents itself nicely and light with a pleasant light aroma of malt and hops.

We have chosen to name our lager Skt. Søren to honor the gifted farmer's son from old Rye, who became a priest and later bishop of Cologne around the year 400. Later, the church in old Rye was named after Skt. Søren. In the Middle Ages, the church, which was owned by the monks at Øm Kloster, became a place of pilgrimage because of a nearby spring. This spring was known as a holy spring with healing powers. In the 15th century, the pilgrimage to the holy spring became so popular that Skt. Søren Church had to be expanded significantly. The pilgrimage thus became an important source of income for the monks at Øm Kloster, which, among other things, made the construction of the late medieval monastery possible.

Skt. Søren is an excellent thirst quencher that is suitable for any occasion, and we recommend it for a good brunch or for a light lunch. In addition, Skt. Søren works perfectly with sushi or Pasta Carbonara.

Copenhagen 18/10 2020. 50 cl bottle from Ostemanden, Nørregade, Hirtshals. Klosterbryggeriet's usual design which looks like a math schoolbook with the coin with inscriptions and two rectangles - this time in purple.

Pours unclear yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as thin but frothy layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a herbal floral scent. Sweet pale malts, metallic alcohol and a touch of thyme.

Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, watery, tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a bit. Finish is sweetish.

A bit too sweet brew which mainly succeeds in being malty.
