Copenhagen 13/11 2020. 50 cl bottle from Ostemanden, Nørregade, Hirtshals. As Klosterbryggeriet Stout. Klosterbryggeriet's usual design in black and grey and with an ancient seal to give an aura of monastry.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small off-white head. Settles as thin remnants of foam floating aimlessly around. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a dark sweet odor mingling with intense licorice root. Brown sugar, licorice. Lighter whiff of bitter coffee and roasted dark malts.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a light sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and laden with licorice. Finish is dry.
Fine not too sweet stout with a healthy dose of licorice.

A: Pours pitch black with a really tall brown compact head. Decent lacings.
S: Quite strong alcohol at first. Dark roasted malt, semi-sweet. Dark dried fruits together with strong black coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. In the back there’s some vanilla notes.
T: A bit sour, actually. Licorice and dark chocolate. Strong black coffee. The roasted dark malt is in no way sweet. Almost no dark dried fruits.
M: Body is on the fuller side while carbonation is held back. Aftertaste is bone dry but also a bit sour.
O: Well, the sourness was a surprise to put it in a nice way…
