Opened this beer with a loud POP from the cork.
Appearance: way over carbonated. Just as I poured into the snifter glass, I got in a tiny bit of beer and the rest of the glass was foam. At least 3-4 inches of foam. Foam was stiff like shaving cream. The beer itself was very dark brown.
Smell: a lot of Belgian yeast and dark fruits. Kind of smells like the standard Belgian dubbel. Not much Brett or wine character from the barrel aging.
Taste: rich in dark fruits and Belgian yeast. Lots of esters. Maybe just a little bit of wine notes as the beer warmed up to room temp. Not much Brett character. Maybe a good representation for just a standard Belgian dark ale minus the barrel-aging and Brett added.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied and overly carbonated.
Overall: it is good, but I had my expectations higher based on what it advertised.

Tried this one at the brewery while on a trip to the area recently. It's description says brewed with belgian yeast, with bretts added, and is aged in Cabernet Franc barrels.
Pours brown, but somewhat transparent. This beer has a caramel and chocolate malt backbone, but the cabernet barrel aging sure made an impact on this one. That red wine flavor really comes through nicely, it made a significant impact on this beer. It took me a few sips of this to warm up to it, but I ended up really enjoying it.
The brett addition seems to play well with the cabernet franc barrels, but I didn't feel like it it meshed well with the malt profile used.
