Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a pint glass.
Dark brown colored body. Creamy, light tan colored head. Leaves behind lacing webs.
Aroma of roasted chocolate malts and citrus.
Taste is sweet and roasty, with an ending bitter bite. Flavors of chocolate malt, citrus orange, and pine resin. Stays with the pine bitterness in the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Slick and smooth, with a dry finish. Very good carbonation.
Fits for style with good balance among flavors.

The SRM and head retention is perfect on this one. Smell is faint, flavor is hop bitterness upon hop bitterness. I haven’t had one this bitter since the IBU wars of the mid to late 2000s. Very piney and floral hops character that coalesce into something almost fruity. This takes me back to the west coast in 2006. Sadly, my palette has moved on from then and I appreciate punishment by hops less, so the taste and mouthfeel scores are lower accordingly.
