Look: Dark, dark brown, practically black out of a 22 oz bomber. Poured with a super fizzy tan head that didn't last very long, although there were some residual bubble patches floating around my glass.

Smell: toasty, sweet malt bill, milk chocolate with fruity notes

Taste: Very sweet, roasted grains, super milk chocolate notes, sugary, powdered milk / malt candy

Feel: Pretty thin on the mouthfeel, maybe a bit oily, not really what I was expecting for a stout. Carbonation is pretty strong and is not sharp, but rather there's a lot of bigger bubbles all popping and foaming at once.

Overall: I like it.

arguably my favorite beer from winter brew fest this weekend, this was really really good. the chocolate on it is great, less sweet than a speakeasy or a lugene from odell, but with every bit as much chocolate flavor. a mix of milk and bitter bakers cocoa are there in both the nose and the taste of this coffee colored black beer. usually with chocolate comes sweetness, but this is remarkably dry, almost like a highly attenuating irish ale yeast strain was used under ideal conditions. love the flavors of the roasted barley with the chocolate, and that faint faint lactose sweetness in the middle. rich frothy body, and a very drinkable example of the style. one of the best going, and a real nice effort from these guys. i have to get myself out to their brewery to try some more stuff based on how good this was.

A solid chocolate stout. Black as an eight ball, with a thick head of light mocha-tan foam. An almost Guiness-like nitro look to it when poured hard, a mild cascading effect suits the style very well. Looks thick, rich and delicious. A lighter than expeted nose is still full of cocoa and coffee with lots of cream and sugar. I can tell this will be a sweeter beer. Taste is more roasted chocolate malts than real chocolate and that's just fine with me. I love well-rounded roasted notes in my stouts and if chocolate manages to find itself in the mix, well that's just fine too. True chcolate tastes are found midpalette and fade with a lingering note. Lots of coffee, toffee, cocoa and creamy sweetness here. I'd like to see a bit more body to this, but overall this beer is above average in feel. Subdued carbonation give it a creamy smoothness, jud a bit thin for me.

Again, this is a solid milk stout. Not powerful at a mere 5%, nor overwhelming in sweetness or roastiness. A damn good desert beer or winter sessional.

22oz bottle purchased at Hazel's for $6.49. Dark black color, huge head, looks nice. Aroma is a bit of chocolate, some dark malts. Flavor is more of the same, I didn't really get any coffee. Overall it was a pretty solid beer with a decently low ABV that I had no problem drinking the entire bottle. I'd definitely order a pint on tap if I saw it.
