This beer was sampled at NHC 2004, it is loosely based on De Ranke's XX bitter. Aged for One year by the brewery.
This beer pours a hazy straw color. It has a great complex yeast driven nose that is joined by lots of hop character. I get aromatic notes of musty leather, citrus, and an amarillo hop character. The taste is spritzy, with a hoppiness that is certainly American in flavor. It has a very dry slightly acidic finish, with spicy notes and an herbal grassiness to it. this beer is light bodied and clean in some ways, despite the characterful yeast notes. This beer is a great combination of American hops and funky yeast driven spice notes.
