Was entered in the 2012 World Beer Cup. Received a bomber as a tip at Sun Deli! Thanks!
A: Orange coloration. Two fingers of head on initial pour. Good retention. Good amount of carbonation rising to the top. Not much lacing.
S: Pretty biscuity and slightly floral. Not a very strong aroma. Some citrus notes break through; grapefruit, lemon and herbs.
T: I really get lemon here. Grapefruit is also present but the lemon really stands out. Almost tart! Slightly resinous. Hints of black pepper. Some caramel sweetness, but this beer does not seem to have the malt bill of a typical English IPA. Lingering sour flavor. Perhaps this beer has not been stored properly . . . the sourness (lemon) seems overwhelming.
M: Medium body. Maybe a tad under carbonated. Hop resins linger on the palate. Slightly buttery and again, a bit sour.
O: This is by no means a typical English-style IPA. Unless this beer was brewed with large amounts of Sorachi Ace (not typical of an English IPA) I believe it has been somehow contaminated. What I'm drinking is really like a sour IPA. Ignoring the style; however, this is a pretty unique beer. I'd like to get my hands on a bottle I know was cared for properly.
