a little more layered than a basic amber ale here, and like some others from these guys, it still has that slightly amateurish aura about it, but that does not diminish the enjoyment factor, this is drinkable, a four season brew, and actually one of the better tricksters beers ive had. a medium to paler amber color from the tap with three quarters of an inch of just off white head and zippy carbonation which i like in the style. the nose is drier than many, more kilned and toasted than caramelized or rich, which lends some warmer weather appeal, subtle graham cracker, almond, and bread crust, light citrus from fresh smelling hops too, faint pine, a little weirdness in the ferment but its mellow. the flavor is similar but has more pine to me than citrus on the back end, an almost gin note, but its mild, and only carrying enough bitterness to balance. the grain is light in body but flavorful as they go, and the middle is earthy and uniquely dry in this style. smooth to drink, very nicely carbonated, subtle honey and toffee taste, even a touch woody which is cool, curiously yeasty late and at temperature it comes apart a little, but overall i like this, and think it does something a little different than the common amber ale, and i appreciate the nuance.

Taster at brewery. Amber in color, thin head that coats the glass with lacing. Light caramel notes in the aroma, mild sweetness. Taste is on target for the style, caramel malts.
