A careful pour by the bartender kept the head small and tight. Nose more than makes up for it though as does the extra beer in the glass. Light retention and lacing with a pale straw gold color and mild cloudiness. The aforementioned noise is full of banana and clove with a very clean amongst a Wit like malt flourish. Taste follows that cleaner malt profile while supporting the characteristic yeast flavors typical pug the style. A mildly tart and lemony front flows into bananas with a clove crispness and mild hops. Full and lively carbonation that moves in a creamy direction. Crisp swallow and very refreshing with a medium light weight. It's hard to make a standout hefe as the benchmark is always Weinstephaner or something following that paradigm. That being said Yonkers Brewing Company has done an excellent job here. Its take on the style checks the requisite boxes in the yeast profile while distinguishing itself in the malt. Light, crisp, refreshing and highly drinkable with a hybrid wit/hefe malt character, Yonkers hefewiezen is a distinguished and welcome addition to the hefe universe. They've nailed another one.
