A seriously dark brew with a sizable, light brown head and a goodly amount of lacing.
Nose carries coffee and light chocolate. Toffee caramel and a bit of roasted grains. A light trace of cookie dough.
Delicious flavor that brings together many of my favorite stout qualities. Front is sweet and malty with a Samuel Smiths type, light mineral sourness. Middle is dry cocoa and coffee. Some graham cracker graininess. A touch of those cookies from the nose. Finish is mild earthy hops and a Guiness like dryness in the finish. A bit of coffee and graham crackers lingering around an overall mildly hoppy dryness.
Feel is like a cask ale, gentle and finely carbonated. Medium light weight. Crisp swallow and quenching finish.
A good solid stout with high drinkability and great feel. Great flavor and subtle complexity. Delicious and moderate in abc, this make for a great winter session stout.
