Attractive deep amber gold color with good white cap and lacing.
Aroma of sweet malt with caramel, toffee and similar good smelling stuff. There is also a spicy, floral element to the hops.
Taste is malt forward as expected but what was unexpected is the dryness of such a sweet smelling brew. Malt flavor deepens mid palate yet becomes darker and definitely swings toward the dry end of the flavor spectrum. I get hops more as a seasoning rather than distinct flavor in the dish. Finishes clean with some lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
Overall a good effort in the general category of Marzen-Amber-Fest brews which is a bit dryer and a bit stronger (6.5%) than those usually are. My good news is this brew is a lager so this ale oriented brewery is at least set up for lager production which holds out the possibility of a Pilsner next Spring.

First had on sample draft at local beer store into clear plastic beer cup. This Lucky Town limited release is going well, and going fast. Get a growler and grill some brats this weekend--or next year.

Poured at the brewery 10.3.15. Hands down one of the best Octoberfest beers period. A great tasting German lager. Imagine SN Octoberfest on steroids and you've got Lucktoberfest. Lots of flavor.

On tap at the brewery. Poured into a tulip glass.
A: A hazy burnt orange with a one finger off-white head that lingers. Thick lacing.
S: Grain heavy with bready malts and attitude. A bit of spiciness, too.
T: Malts slide in with a one-two punch and a sweet, robust breadiness. Thick, grainy nuances make this work so well. A bit of spice on the finish. Just terrific.
M: The best part. In so many cases Oktoberfests are thin on the mouthfeel. Not so with Lucktoberfest. This one is thick and chewy with lots of carbonation.
O: Take your Sam Adams or your Sierra Nevada O-fest and ramp it up a few notches. That's Lucktoberfest. It may be my new favorite beer from Lucas and the gang. Prosit!
