Had Gylden (not Golden) Finch in February 2019 during the Last Days of Lucky Town at the Taproom, on 10-oz. draft into (pint) tumbler.
This barrel-aged augmentation of Lucky Town’s well-loved Ballistic Blonde is a rough, uncultured Belgian Strong Golden Ale, reminiscent of the Wehrmacht’s stroll through the Ardennes.

Slightly hazy deep yellow gold color with big bumpy white head.
Aroma of rich malt quickly followed by a spicy flowerness.
Taste is big and strong. My first impression is solid malt cake covered by rich spices as if they were liberally sprinkled on top before baking. Yet there is complexity and balance. Hop presence is just enough to offset the malt and there's a subtle nuttiness in the aftertaste. I really get the impression of a complex strong Sherry and there is an undeniable vinous quality about it. It's got complexity, I give it that.
Full texture with balancing carbonation.
This is a big and powerful brew that needs a large armchair to hold it's girth. Brewer calls it a Belgian Golden Ale so when adding it to the data base I listed it as a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. A note on the can also mentions Bourbon Barrel aging for whatever that's worth because I didn't find any Bourbon in it, just reporting what I read.
