A score from the Friendly Greek Bottle Shop that also required an approved picture before I would be CANfortable Crack!ing it open and now I am ready to go.

From the CAN: “Dayman is a session IPA brewed with oats and hopped intensely with Columbus, [C]hinook, [C]ascade and [W]arrior. Cheers and thanks, [undersigned] Andrew J. Maxwell Brew Master”.

I was anxious to CANduct the Crack! and get this mo’ started. It revealed a brimful CAN with some foam already in evidence, so I got it in an inverted Glug to see what would happen. Needless to say, I got a LOT of foaming action before I forced to back off. I was left with two foamy, soapy fingers of bone-white head with moderate retention when it all ended. Color was a slightly hazy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose had a citrus rind smell and I remembered that this is supposed to be Sessionable. For me, aromatic hops that do not equate to taste is like when the carpet does not match the drapes on a faux redhead. Mouthfeel was medium. Here, the difference between nose and taste was not as pronounced, with this having a slightly bitter, citrus rind flavor, but it still tasted like it was dumbed down. For those who may have wondered what I was alluding to in a previous review, this is maintenance drinking. It was not going to get the job done, but nor was it going to leave me balled up in a corner, jonesing for some more hops. Finish was dry, but I just felt like the whole thing had been set to “Mute” when I was ready for it to be amped up to “11”. YMMV.

A big thanks to the legendary woodychandler for this beer. It's been in my fridge for a few weeks now, I'm surprised he hasn't reviewed it. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bright yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of piney hops. Taste is mild, hoppy, pine, a bit unbalanced, a mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but much better IPA's out there, even at 5% abv.
