12oz. can into snifter. No freshness date, but it's a high ABV beer in a can and has been stored properly.
Look: opaque dark brown-black with an airy tan head. Head fades quickly and leaves moderate lacing.
Smell: Dark fruit, coffee, booze, and wet wood. Not rotting wet wood. More like the wood chips you soak before putting them in a smoker. And there might be a charred or smoky aroma in there too. Hard to tell through everything else.
Taste: Sweet, dried stone fruit flavor up front, with a slightly boozy character. (I think that's the bourbon.) Coffee/roasted flavors hit in the middle and fade to a slightly bitter finish with a drying, oaky character.
Mouthfeel: sticky, with just enough carbonation to not be cloying.
Overall: I treated this as a double/imperial stout because of the barrel aging and high ABV. BA labels it an Oatmeal Stout, but I'm not sure I'd agree, aside from the fact that it contains oats. Either way, it's a solid beer. I would maybe like it to be a little less sweet or a little more carbonated, but those are minor things.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, bourbon, oats. Taste is bourbon, roasted malts, some coffee, light smokiness, a touch of alcohol. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Rivertowne Brewing Co. "Bourbon Barrel Aged! All Aboard! Anniversary Stout"
12 fl. oz. can, packaging coded but without freshness dating; sampled on 29 March 2017
$1.83 @ (Wegmans) Cherry Hill Wine, Liquor & Beer, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness (so I don't really have to think!): I just bought this in February of 2017. I know it comes out in December so it'll be a little bit old, but I don't think that'll hurt it. On the website it's listed as 7.1% ABV rather than the 8.2% that's on the label. It certainly smells of Bourbon just opening the can! Pours a very, very deep mahogany brown that's almost black. Creamy tan head dissipates all too quickly. Really pleasant aroma of Bourbon and oak, but also a hint of alcohol - uh oh! There's some brown sugar in there as well, and just a touch of chocolate. Ahh, some coconut as well - I love that! It doesn't seem very roasty, let's see what the flavor gives us... rich with coffee, lots of toffee, nuts, and just a touch of chocolate and hardly any of the Bourbon found in the aroma - or alcohol, thankfully. The oak doesn't come through very much either although it shows a bit in the drying finish. It's sweet but not too sweet, and certainly not cloying. Wow, I'm not really sure what to say about this one. I was expecting a bit of a sipper but it's really enticing and drinkable, and although I'm sure the alcohol will catch up with me about halfway through or so, I'd think I could just go straight through this. Really exceptional. It's soft and sweet with a medium-full body and very-fine bubbled restrained carbonation, but the Bourbon and oak help to dry it along with a moderate bitterness. Drawbacks? It lacks head retention and lacing, but that's at least due in part to the soft carbonation so it's a trade-off that I can accept. Really well done.

Pitch black with thin brown head
Mild aroma
Light on typical stout roast malt flavor
Bourbon is present but muted, however it really comes through as it warms up
Mouthfeel is slightly creamy
Overall, an enjoyable bba stout out of the can and the lower than typical alcohol makes it an easy drinker.
