I kinda feel abashed when I am the first in on everything about a beer's entry on this site. I created the beer, submitted the approved pic & now I am the first to write a review! I suppose that it is all in a day's work for the founder & creator of The CANQuest (tm).
I have been off of the CAN Kick for a while, but upon hearing the Crack! & getting a spritz from a brimful CAN, I decided to go with an inverted Glug! I miss doing it, but it cost me my ex-Old Lady who accused me of trying to make a gigantic mess. Ha ha. In this instance, I could not get the CAN through the neck of the glass, so I allowed the CANtents to just run, almost unCANtrollably. I initially had three-plus fingers of massive, rocky, dense, bone-white head, but it slowly began to subside into a soapy skim, leaving intense, sticky lacing in its wake. I will need a jackhammer to remove it later! Color was a slightly hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7), but since it was not 24-carat clarity, The Gelt Gang declined a taste. Nose had a tropical fruitiness, but it was like a roll of Mixed Tropical Fruit Life Savers in that I could not parse them out easily. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was both fruity and bready, more towards pineapple than any other & once more, I thought of Pineapple Upside-Down cake! Man, I have not had one of those in a LONG time. It was not until I really got into baking that I understood the joys of caramelized sugars and what they imparted in that dessert. This was very evocative of those sweet, but baked, flavors. Mmmm. Oh, man, I love IPAs in all of their variegated forms! I am a hophead of long-standing & this sort of thing just sends me. Finish was semi-dry to dry, not quite dry, but pretty close. A lot of people are either scared of hoppy beers or simply eschew them for their inherent bitterness, but I think that this beer might be a good entrée for such people. Me? I'm onto the next beer!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
