everything they make here at cannonball creek is very solid, and his is a predictably well made porter, pushing the robust side of things, nice matte black color to it, a full inch of creamy head, and wonderful carbonation, high for the style but welcomed here. aroma and flavor of dark roasted barley, unmalted black barley, dark fruit, raisin, prune, and some hop bitterness too. i see others have missed the lack of sweetness, but not me, i love them dry and bitter like this with just a little bit of yeast character and dark malt carry at the end, which is exactly what you get here. smooth in feel, maybe a tad on the light side in terms of body, but its well drinkable for what it is, and the high carbonation is cool here. lingering bitterness from both hops and grain, and a cool dried fruity middle that is unexpected. i have never once had a bad beer from these guys, and i dont really ever think i will. everything they make is very well done, and this is a strongly flavored porter perfect for the upcoming fall season.

This was a pretty good porter, though not the best beer I tried here. It's got the smell and taste you expect from a porter and a good feel, but didn't quite outshine some of my favorites from other breweries. Still, I'd get this one again. Would like to try it on nitro if they offered that at some point.

On tap at the brewery in Golden. Dark brown-black, small head. Really nice aroma, sticky sweet malts, touch of the requisite porter aromas of coffee, chocolate, etc. flavor was good but not quite up to the aroma or maybe it just lacked that sweetness. Overall though I enjoyed this, possible growler candidate.
