On tap at the brewery into a nonic style glass.
A-The beer is pretty light in color for the style; a yellow hued golden color. A short white head fades within 30 seconds to a film that soon dissipates. Nice, fine lacing on the glass at first. Nearly clear with just a chill haze.
S-The aroma is milder than I would expect with notes of grapefruit, orange, some pepper, lime, and a light pine aroma. As it warms I sniff some peach and papaya or mango. Malts are lighter and toasty rather than caramel.
T-Despite the somewhat underwhelming smell, this thing tastes great. Project Alpha packs a moderately bitter mixture of citrus fruit like orange, lime, and grapefruit; some tropical fruit like mango or papaya, and a nice bit of pine and pepper spice. It is hop-heavy, but it is not terribly "juicy" when compared to some IPAs and there is some balancing malt that suggests toasted bread.
M-The body is lighter than many of the style with a medium amount of carbonation. It drinks easily and makes for a great summer quaff. The finish is dry and bittering.
O-Many IPAs smell better than they taste, but this was the opposite for me. The layers of flavor on the palate just keep coming and coming; each new sip brings something new. The flavors also work well together and the light feel makes for easy drinking. Well done.

This is the best IPA made in Colorado right now. This is the true world class IPA we've been waiting for. Light on the Malt, heavy on the mosiac and citra. I hope this becomes more available in the future.

On tap at the brewery. Bright yellow, slighty hazy. Fruity aroma, grass, lots of hops. Citrus flavors, grass, hops, hops hops. A delicious IPA and better than the mindbender. Hopefully they continue this one.
