Copenhagen 15/9 2021. 33 cl little chubby bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Poppels usual text heavy style on the label with a quote from the brewer calling it a Dunder-Stout.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a small dark beige head. Kind of bubbly. Settles as a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a sweet, sugary scent of dark malts mingling with a earthy scent. Brown sugar in abundance, toffee, caramel. Wet soil, rotting wet leaves and tobacco. Scent of dark alcohol chiming in.
Light carbonation. Thick, viscous, oily, creamy, sticky and almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a heavy sweetness followed by a medium strong sourish and a bit rough bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a bitter undertone. Like licorice. Lingering. Finish is semi-dry.
Potent and sweet with the bitterness lurking in the background. Fairly modest when it comes to the barrel aging.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, lables not read (yet!)...
L- It has that rather curious silent pour you get with high ABV% beers. Jet black. No head, just the tiniest patch of bubbles - unsurprising again due to the ABV% and surface-tension etc.
S- Smells BIG. Deep roast, cocoa and whisky barrel.
T- BOOM! Gawd it jaw-achingly rich straying into sweet. Mega cocoa and the whisky is almost (I'm imagining hallucinating as if it were a hot day) condensing and running in ethanol ribbons down the inside of the glass.
F- I don't know the precise ABV% here but it is way up there. It isn't high enough to 'burn' but the mega rich(>sweet) aspect is disguising it to an extent.
O- Heavens, it's full-on deep, mega-pungent, mega-liquor/whisky here. I think this one might be more suited to 'slow sippin' by the log fire in winter'. Maybe an ideal Xmas beer for fans of liquor barrel aged/Milk Stouts when the palate craves reward from extra richness.
It's certainly er striking, but it's just too sweet for me to buy again.
Review1927/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Barrel-aged. Lots of other info but in Swedish only.
330ml bottle £6.90 BB: 19/02/2023 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
