Winter Ale. This is an English ale, characterised by its malty and balanced flavour. It is perfect for Christmas meals, where the toasted notes and rich flavour suit a wide range of dishes on the Christmas table as well as being enjoyed on a quiet evening. It is also suitable with gouda cheese, fish & chips and steak.

Copenhagen 14/12 2020. 33 cl small chubby bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv. Poppel's usual text heavy design with everything from the basic facts about the beer to food pairing (good with Fish & Chips and Gouda cheese).
Pours slightly unclear maroon with a big off-white head. Settles as thin, uneven layer of foam almost able to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is medium intense wire a malty sweet odor. Toffee, caramel, hints of brown sugar and banana. Dark fruit. Spicy licorice. Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by moderate sour bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a bit. Finish is caramellized and sweet.
Pleasant enough without being overly interesting.
