Pours a clear slightly orange, golden color with a frothy, white head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of pine hops and some fruit on the backend.

Tastes of the pine hops layered over a nice malt base. Hops lead off with notes of pine and grapefruit. This gives way to the malts with notes of caramel and toasted bread. A bit of syrupy sweetness. Finishes with some lingering pine.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a tasty DIPA.

On tap at Monocacy Brewing in Frederick, MD.

This one pours a very slightly hazy orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like pine needles soaked in grapefruit, weed, and melon rind.

This is dry bitter and delicious. It's nice to still be able to have a well-constructed West Coast IPA these days, as it seems like most IPAs I see these days are just another riff on the New England style. It's still a bit fruity, mostly with grapefruit and melon, but the dominant force is clean, crisp and refreshing piney bitterness that's assertive but never overwhelming. There's not much malt character to this- the hop attack is enough to drown it out.

This is medium bodied, and very crisp, with a good level of carbonation.

This is a really good rendition of the style. All of the stuff I had from Monocacy was excellent.

A solid nicely made West Coast IPA with mild/moderate bitter. Well balanced. Enjoy!
