During the American Revolution, German prisoners of war were held in Frederick, Maryland, at a pair of buildings that became known as the Hessian Barracks.
After independence, many Chose to stay - putting down roots and helping build a new nation.
This unfiltered Hefeweizen is true to the traditional German style. but with a twist. We added fresh lemon zest and local Maryland honey to the boil. The result is a refreshingly bright finish. Prost!

A pint can into a tall Hefeweizen glass
A pale gold pour with a slighty opaque clarity, a lively head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing.
Lightly toasted wheat malt is nicely done.
The Hefeweizen yeasty ester flavors of banana/clove seem a little muted, a supple leather and slight citrus flavors are there as well.
Mild hops bitterness does tilt the finish balance towards dry. The addition of honey is not a predominant aspect in the flavor, which is a good thing IMO.
This Hefe is not bad at all, I could easily enjoy several w/o complaints.
