Born from an idea at the 2014 Hopsauce Festival, a fantastic Hop Sauce Love child in a collaboration with The Chicken or the Egg. One might ask if there were not wings, would there be beer? And if there were not beer, would there be wings? Thus the Chicken or the Egg IPA hatched. With stinging undertones, a kiss of honey we are proud to threaten you with this new epicurean mashup.

Much more foamy than close to ideal was the pour attempting to empty entirely the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. There was so much foam, the can couldn't be emptied in a single pour. In fairness, the effort was made at room temperature. It has that wheat beer look of excessive stark white foam that recedes quickly, unevenly and unattractively. The color of the liquid is richly apricot-amber and it's on the dull and hazy side. This is not a treat for the nose, as there's only mild notes of pepper spices and the stalwarts of a good IPA, malt and hops are hard to find. Here, the nose knows, as there is very little traditional IPA to taste. It drinks thinly, almost backboneless and the hops are barely appreciable through the peppery heat. Those peppers are what should bring anyone to this and they are well executed. This reminds that there aren't enough good hot pepper beers available, because despite its shortcomings as an IPA, this ends up being a delightful pint. Of course, you have to like a hot pepper burn to like this. There's enough heat here to compensate its lack of malt body and hoppy bitterness. It's not up to the level of Free Will's Safeword, for which a read of Woody Chandler's Beer Advocate review is highly recommended. But for those that like some heat in their beer, this will suffice. As expected, the foam didn't last, but the glass lacing was decent. Overall, it's a good hot pepper beer that would be better were it a good IPA, too.

Poured into a narrow water glass: color is straw, slight chill haze, head is off white with fine bubbles, head presents about 1/4 inc thick and then dissipates to a ring along the glass sides.

Smell is neutral ipa style - not much malt or hop depth, but nothing detracting. Light neutral pale ale malt or similar and light neutral hop presence. No noticeable hot pepper aroma.

Taste starts with similar neutral presence - hops and malt are non-descript for an ipa, but the habanero burn creeps in with some light vegetal/pepper flavor.

Mouthfeel is moderate in terms of carbonation and bitterness but a solid lingering burn from the spiciness, but not detracting.

Overall a good take on the spicy ipa, but the ipa depth and presence is subdued.

Pours a bright orange color. Sticky sweet fruits, fruity malts, honeysuckle, citrus and tropical fruits. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall a decent IPA and the best I've had from them so far.

12 oz can

Slightly hazy orange golden color, white head. Aroma of cayenne peppery spice and citrus hops. Taste starts mild but finishes spicy, feel down the throat. Thinner bodied.

Pours dark orange with a thinner fizzy head. Not off putting but not exactly great looking either.

The smell has a nice hoppy presence with a faint sweet nose. Pretty nice smelling beer.

Taste is pretty interesting. It has a nice hoppy resin taste up front with a well balanced very light sweeter finish. I don't get too much of the sting. Was hoping for a little bit more bite to it.

The feel is nice too. Pretty well put together for a specialty kind of beer. Easy on the pallet.

Over all a pretty good beer. Would like more of the burn but still an enjoyable beer.
