On tap at BitterCreek. Amber pour, small frothy head. Fruity aroma, part citrus, part tropical. Juicy hops come forward in the taste, light bodied, but full of flavor. Smooth with a nice bite.

 

 

Had it on tap at Arts and Craft Beer Parlor, NYC.
Pours a golden color, mostly clear, with a modest head. Not the best retention, however, a thing ring of lacing lasts throughout.
A strong dose of citrus and tropical fruit hits the nose at first. Midway, this shifts noticeably into a more earthy, grass and sharp pine needle aroma. The pine, in particular, cuts through and evokes a green forest.
In the mouth it is medium bodied with a dry palate and finish. The emphasis is on the hops, which provide significant bitterness and a sharp prickle. Hints of citrus, however, the prickliness of pine needles run the show.
With the prevalence of juicy IPAs, every now and then I crave for a good old fashioned ipa that is bitter, dry and with a hops profile that is more green than fruity. This beer satisfied that crave in a good ole fashion west coast way.

Golden color with little haze. Small head but it leaves several rings of lace with streaks in between.

Sweet malt with a floral hop aroma. A bit tropical with an emphasis on mango.

This is bitter but not overly so. The pale malt is steady throughout but with a distinct bittering hop bite. Highly carbonated with an above average rich body. The finish is bitingly bitter with a light alcohol touch.

On tap at Stag's Head in Manhattan. Served in a tulip.

A: Not-quite-translucent amber. A few lacing streaks. Head disappears as if uncarbonated (the actual carbonation is good though) .

S: Dank tangerine and mango, with some very straightforward Pacific Northwest hop aroma like Cascades. Smells awesome, and persists for the life of the glass.

T: Hop forward but not as much as the nose. Good amount of malt sweetness and mild heat. Hops are there, and citrusy, but more one dimensional than the aroma would have you lusting after.

Tastes somewhere between an earthy, dank modern IPA and a more syrupy old school DIPA like 90 minute. Amazing? Not really, but no regrets about buying it.

M: Medium bodied, slick and oily with a mild juiciness and hot finish. The carbonation is punchy enough that the oily feel is enjoyable, and the bitterness level is just right.

O: Solid DIPA. Aroma is the only standout factor, but everything else is satisfying. I'm not going to be enticed into the abyss by this beer, but I'll finish it happily. Speaking of getting drunk, it's definitely boozy... the 8.5%~ tells, but there's no solvent off flavors, just heat and sweetness. Would love if it were dryer, but it's a nitpick.

Picked up a 16 oz Mason Jar from the Craft Beer Quick Stop yesterday for $5.00.

Beer poured golden orange with a nice white head that is leaving some lacing behind.

Nose is wonderful, dank all the way. Fresh citrus dominates.

Taste is citrus dominated, with a touch of mango, finishing with a nice dose of pine that lets you know this is an IPA.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very refreshing for a double IPA.

Overall a very nice beer, glad i tried! I have had good experiences with the Breakside portfolio!

 

 

 

 

Very crisp and floral with some catbox. Stood out in a flight

 

 

another first rate ipa from breakside, no surprise there, they always do the hoppy stuff so well. this one is honey colored and heady, real easy drinking for a double, without any more bitterness than it needs and a really fresh floral hop profile with a little citrus and pineapple juice to it, but also not sweet from the hop oils or anything, really quite a mellow and cruisy brew. i love the aroma here, huge dry hopping i would think, with a wonderful blooming freshness, notes of elderflower and citrus zest, even a little grassy, really nice. i get the same thing in the flavor without a lot of grain interference, very light in that regard, this is dry and no more than light medium bodied. some slight biscuit flavor, a little toasted grain maybe, but its all very delicate. fruity hops linger after the finish, expressive carbonation washes it down quickly, and there is just the slightest bit of alcohol presence in the very final stages. this is a cool beer because it makes me think of late spring here in the middle of winter. more of a food double ipa with the lighter body and cleaner finish. it was perfect with a southwestern chicken sandwich! maybe not quite as epic and end all be all as the name suggests, but another job well done by breakside!

Light, golden amber in color with a creamy, off white head. Solid lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, bread malt, yeast, and honey. Flavor is very grapefruit forward, orange, and herbs. Dank aftertaste with a dry finish. Very good overall.
