The name appears to be a humorous reference to this beer not being an IPA. Whatevet Breakside/Wayfinder (this is a collaboration) want to call it, this an absolutely delightful hoppy offering, just perfect for summer quaffing.
On tap at Growler guys last night.
The beer pours a glowing golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is attractive, as I pick light sweet malt, dry citrus and a hint of onion. The flavor profile replicates the nose in this incredibly well balanced, easy to drink, lightly bitter pale ale. The beer has just the right amount of sweetness to handle the bitterness in beer, and the finish is very clean with a kiss of hoppy bitterness. Drinkability is amazing. It was very difficult not to gulp this right down, as there was no sense of heaviness or alcohol on the finish. The low abv. is an added bonus in this beer, making it possible to actually knock back a couple of these bad boys without completely trashing your palate or yourself.
An altogether excellent beer that is highly recommended.
