Contemporary IPA brewed with feet firmly planted in the Northwest and a nod to New England. Mosaic and Columbus hops get lots of play here creating a beer that is tropical, fruity, dank, soft, and balanced.

Light gold pour, finger if tightly white foam trailing some lace. Nose is tropical and resin.
Taste shows ripe mango, dank resin, citrus, light kilned malt, hint of berry. Medium mouthfeel. Finish us fruity and dank with some length.

I like Breakside, most of their beers are really good and this is one of the good ones. Nice hop flavor with slightly malty sweetness. Color has a very slight haziness and doesn't quite taste like other New England IPA's. Don't get me wrong this still a good beer with not too much bitterness. 10-18-2018

I wanted to end the evening sipping on a Breakside IPA before calling it a night. I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour created a creamy, foamy, one-fingered, white, head with average retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass but a white ring around the beer. The color is golden yellow with amber hues, slightly hazy, charting at SRM 10. The appearance is average, and it would have a longer-lasting head.
Upon my first whiff, the beer revealed a complex bouquet of oranges, grapefruit, floral blossom, lightly toasted malts, and resin. With each subsequent sniff, the firm malt backbone, doughy breadiness, and subtle sweetness became more pronounced. The hop aromas, including grassy, earthy, resin, and a light tropical note, added depth to the beer's scent. This Breakside IPA is a true testament to the art of crafting a unique and flavorful beer.
The beer starts with a massive hop profile of pine, resin, grapefruit, orange, mango, pineapple, and floral blossoms. Then, the burly malt backbone with toasted malts, doughy, bready biscuits, and sweetness stands firm, but it lets the hops become the star of this beer show. Other flavors are light phenol, earthy, and mineral.
The finish is tannic and dry with an astringent bitter mouthfeel. The body is medium and has medium carbonation.
While the beer is classified as hazy, it doesn't quite fit that description in my opinion. However, this does not detract from its deliciousness. The beer's unique hop combination and wonderful malt complex make it a standout IPA. In my view, it leans more towards the Northwest style, which I appreciate. Overall, this Breakside IPA is a solid choice for those who prefer a more traditional IPA.

16 oz can, canned 2/25/22. Pours very hazy dark brown yellow with a medium fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is a little sweet fruit and a lot of stinky catty green onion hops.
The flavor is sweet wheat malt and a little fruit with a lot of stinky catty ashy green onion hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, I don't like the hops.

really flavorful hazy here from breakside, cool art on the can too, thought i had reviewed this awhile back but i guess not, these guys always do so well with the hoppy stuff! this isnt as densely hazy as the style seems to be trending, cloudy but not dim or dull or starchy, its bright in the glass, has a high and lasting couple inches of bubbly white head, and the bottom of the can is no more sedimented than the rest of it. mosaic in the nose for sure, canned pineapple, lemon balm, and a little bit of floral honey, there is some danky pine in the mix as well, northwestern and relatively familiar, but i get a hint of peach or apricot or something too, and it seems to continue to expand to my senses as it warms up in the glass. the flavor is maybe a little muted compared with the aroma, more generic stone fruit and weed to me, spruce and dried flowers, a little oxidation or fade maybe too, and just the slightest bitterness late that almost presents like hop burn at temperature, but overall this is very well refined. the ferment is clean and the beer has great carbonation, is drinkable for the style, and while maybe not having the most distinctive hop complexion, really is very appealing. not overly juicy or oily or anything which i like in this too. solid through and through

16oz can dated 12/4/20 poured into a Teku on 5/21/21.
Pours 1/2" of white head. Opaque orange color.
Tropical fruit on the nose: pineapple, orange, and melon. Very hop-forward and juicy.
Taste follows the nose. Mostly tropical fruit flavors without much malt or bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and juicy. Low astringency and effervescence.
An intense tropical fruit aroma and flavor despite its near 6-month age. Good, but would definitely try a fresher can.

16oz canned mid-June poured into a pub nonic. Solid golden/hazy pour with a large off-white head. Bright nose of juicy tropical fruit and mellow earthy hop tones backed with a solid pillowy/grainy malt base, medium-to-light mouthfeel with some subdued sweetness. A solid all-around NEIPA.
