Taster at brewery, from bottle. Black and flat, with tiny collar of head. Aroma is sweet, only slightly. Not much of the additives detectable. Taste brings a slight maple sweetness and bit of stickiness. This very subtle.

This is a big stout with a lot of maple and bourbon and oak. As expected it a very rich beer that has a very nice alcoholic burn as it goes down. This is exactly what I wanted from this beer although maybe a little more bitterness to offset the sweet would have made this perfect more balanced. Not much to complain about though, a great example of the style and thoroughly enjoyable

Picked up a 12 oz bottle from the Craft Beer Quick Stop 6-7-19 for $7.49. Bottled on 2-6-19; consumed on 9-16-19.
Beer poured black with a moderate tan head that has some pretty good hand time.
Nose is maple forward mixed with some chocolate and some moderate roast, very nice!
Taste is bourbon forward, then maple forward over a large malt base. Chocolate lingers in the back providing a sweet backbone but is counter balanced by the hop bill that does not let this get too sweet.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a fun beer to try! The bourbon and maple were very distinct and i want to say disjointed as they did not meld together as i hoped. if you appreciate heavy bourbon with some sweetness, definitely pick this one up if you can find it!

Very delicious.
Pours smooth.
Smells heavy maple barrel.
Feels great. Perfect for sipping.
Could use 1 more flavor for a bit of complexity.
Tastes like you're drinking a maple tree.
Overall I like it and recommend trying it at least once.

Maple seems to be the flavor of the month, which is not all together a bad thing. Breakside has done very well indeed with it. Solid ember black, it’s a bit oily, with only a hint of lacing. The aroma emerges slowly, filling the olfactory sense with little clouds of whiskey, chocolate and coffee. The maple then comes on full blast in the taste. There are really some syrup-soaked pancakes here, but when layered in with the sharp, insistent tones of the stout it all comes together beautifully. Feel is nice enough but could have a bit more substance. Overall this is a serious winner - another Oligarch to bow down to.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, maple, light vanilla and a touch of oxidation. Flavor is dark toasted malt, maple, nuts, vanilla and bourbon. Medium bodied with light creaminess and fizzy, sharp carbonation. I was on roll with these, with each one better than the last, but this one is a bit more boozy and has odd, sharp carbonation. The maple character is good and well balanced with the malt but is second fiddle to bourbon in this reincarnation. An enjoyable stout, one again with more of a porter malt body in my opinion, with the carbonation having a mild effect on the flavors.
