Black with a dark brown head with good retention and lacing. The nose has tons of coconut, full, fleshy, meaty and with a blend of sweetness and oily character. Along with this is dark chocolate, brown sugar, a little honey and a little condensed milk. There's also a mild macadamia nut character present, which is surprising given the lack of nuts here. Roast is mild, and what is present is overshadowed by the coconut. The palate opens sweet with loads of coconut, fleshy, sweet, creamy, fatty and a little oily. Arguably one note, but quite nicely done. Mild chocolate, dark honey, brown sugar, a little caramel. Mild roast with a little coffee. There's a light acidity, but really, this is dominated by the fatty coconut flavor. Medium in body, creamy in carbonation, this beer finishes sweet. Great flavors, but this feels a little lacking in some way, great overall.

Look: Jet black and opaque with a dark tan, soft, pillowy head leaving behind good lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, coconut flesh, chocolate, slight anise, some nuttiness (filberts), and no alcohol heat
Taste: Quick snap of chocolate and then a huge in-your-face punch of coconut, roast mingles in, then exits stage left to let coconut have the limelight. Some alcohol tingles the tongue and throat. Stronger chocolate presence as it warms
Mouthfeel: Thick, viscous, and a little oily slickness but not at all overly so or cloying – alcohol heat keeps it at bay
Overall: Super trippy but good stuff! I’ve never had a beer with this strong of a coconut profile overall. Like a German chocolate cake with triple the coconut but in beer form. From two breweries I enjoy, respect, and drink a lot from. However, if you are not a coconut fan, this beer may not be for you as it is definitely in the forefront on all aspects in this one. For me, tasty change-of-pace stout but probably a one-time purchase on the bottle for myself, though would have again as a small pour on draft or gladly share a bottle.

 

Fizzy light brown head sits (and sits, and sits...) atop a deep dark body that's not black, but it's a damn dark brown, giving way to garnet shafts at the edges and thin points when held up to the light.

Nose is immediately roasty. Big roasty malts. No coconut, which is a little disappointing. But roasty malts with maybe a wayward fudge ribbon dancing in the shadows.

Well that's a whole another story. Whereas the nose was kind of underwhelming and didn't offer the excitement promised on the label, the flavour does not shy away. Sweet creamy coconut milk is the main driver here, with that same roasty malty stout behind it, but with more depth and dimension. The fudgy chocolate is still hiding (but it's in there), as there's more rich chocolate candy, some barbecue char, and a bit of rich espresso. Lots to dig through here. The edge has some husk to it. Finish is rich and long with bitter chocolate. I have to keep reminding myself that this is almost 10%, because it doesn't taste it.
Body is thick and chewy and viscous and just what I want out of a big decadent stout. The carbonation is a touch high for my preference, but it's an easily forgiven observation. Sticky paws and again, minimal alcohol presence if any.

This is rich decadent stout that I'm really enjoying. It's rich without getting too too sweet (though it is on the sweeter edge of restrained to my tastes), and rich and oily (even if there's a touch more carbonation than I'd prefer). This is hitting the spot and I only regret not sharing it with lady kemo as I think she'd really enjoy it as well. Maybe I'll leave the second glass in the bottle...

22oz bottle at share. dark brown pour with a small beige head. Chocolate first in the nose, coconut some coffee. Taste brings it all together, sweet, dessert-y goodness. Delicious.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger brown head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coconut, licorice and light cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt with mild biscuit, coconut, licorice, light chocolate. Nice coconut chocolate finish with a little nuttiness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I'm overdue for a coconut stout fix and this one really hit the spot. The base leans a bit towards a porter in the malt character, but holds up great to the chocolate and coconut flavors. Kind of mellow, but beautifully balanced with a deft amount of coconut. ABV very well covered.I can see the Fremont influence in the malt and coconut level (I'm looking at you coconut B-bomb). Quite enjoyable and a fine collaboration between two of my favorite breweries. Wouldn't mind seeing this one again.

Fantastic handsome devil looking beer in the shaker glass mahogany body , tan head..creamy smooth and 1/4 inch kept for ages.
Nice aromas or coconut meat and cream. Some semi dark chocolate and raisins.
Taste is similar but the creamy aspect goes into over drive. Also some nice licorice and coconut aspects.
Mouth feel is fantastic thick and smooth.
