22oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer is a hazy orange amber and forms a lovely gradient in the curve of the glass, along with a nice thick white head. Very pretty as far as NEIPAs go. Big citrus peel aroma of orange and grapefruit. Flavor is similarly dominated by citrus juice components, now bringing in some lemon. One thing I notice about this beer's flavor is that it actually has some respectable bite, unlike a lot of NEIPAs. The sharpness of the carbonation plays really well with that to make an excellent, drinkable, balanced NEIPA. Very impressed with yet another IPA from Breakside.

The hue of dark golden yellow is classic IPA colour, but it's moderately opaque (but not full on murky/hazy). Decent finger of sticky offwhite head. Good lacing.

Soft light citrus aroma is pleasant but doesn't stand out. Inviting, but doesn't really Pop!.

Flavour as an isolated component feels like more of a classic solid single IPA. Nice piney and citrus bitterness throughout, some decent caramel supporting malts. Strong bitter finish that is assertive but not overwhelming or punishing. Again: reminds me of a nice solid NW IPA.

The mouthfeel is where this hybrid to my mind IPA really pulls on its hazy roots. Incredibly soft, with interspersed sharp carbonation that gets in makes its point and gets out. Again, the finish is long and bitter, and man I've missed that in IPAs.

This is a solidly well done hybrid to me. Individually, the appearance is kind of a blend of the styles, the nose is kind of eh noncomittal, the flavour leans more towards the classic (which full disclosure is definitely my personal preference), and the mouthfeel brings out the soft positive characteristics of the more modern style. That's a balancing act that's not necessarily easy to pull off, and I think they've done a good job of it here. As I've worked through the glass I've been pleasantly surprised at my evolving assessment of the brew overall. I'd happily drink this again, though I probably wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to seek it out.

L: Light orange haze with a. Half finger ivory head and some broken bands of lace.

S: Soft aromas of grain, malt, tropicals and citrus.

T: Follows the nose. Off-dry with a drier finish.

F: Light crisp and crushable body.

O: One of Breakside’s bests. This is a simple brew, and well executed, but also not something to get excited about.

10th Anniversary Series in collaboration with Pinthouse ,Austin TX.
$5.49 from Safeway in West Salem OR
Pours a slightly hazy..no way murky light orange body wit a cracker of a rocky/creamy thick white head.
Very strong tropical fruits and pineapple hop aromas..very fresh and very inviting right now.
Taste similar but have some hop bitterness at the correct time to disrupt the fruit train..very very nice.
Mouth feel is excellent for the style..its fruity..semi sweet but the right amount of carbonation and a dryish finish.
excellent IPA here..a hybrid for sure..but excellent.

Pretty outstanding beer! Being listed as a New England Style IPA is a slight misnomer. This beer leans more translucent than cloudy on the spectrum. Aroma is definitely hoppy, with a citrus forward note (grapefruit or pomelo). Taste is amazing. Solid hop bitterness but not overwhelming. Flavor profile is more of a traditional West Coast IPA (think more like cascade or Amarillo hop notes, rather than tropical leaning Citra etc). Very crisp mouthfeel and rinses from the palette easily, not super sticky or syrupy.

Definitely reminiscent of a Pliny.

Great, great beer!
