First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a typical dark brown-black color with a small cap of beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee, notes of cocoa and a bit astringent. Taste of dark roasted malts, burnt coffee, some ash, and cocoa, very subtle fruit notes. Medium body...a bit thin for the style and mildly astringent. Not bad, but not great.
I actually rated this a "3.0" in my notes, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Slightly disappointed with this one. Looks pretty decent with dark brown/black hue, toffee colored head, fades quickly to an average lace. Smells of burnt coffee, cocoa, and char. Pretty low intensity and straight to the point nose. Palate has more character, a little dark fruit, some toast, more coffee.
A little thin on the palate, not unpleasant, medium grip and lower intensity. Overall a pretty decent Irish stout style, but one that lacks that little extra ooomph to really set it apart.
