Look: Hazy, dull yellow in the glass and my pour jump starts a lively head to form a pillow and hold, coating the rim with lacing as it settles
Aroma: I could smell it on the pour. Ripe limes, skunky and gassy Cannabis, orange zest, pink and white grapefruit, wafts of sage, floral notes, boysenberries, and bready malt
Taste: Whoa. Opens up with a rush of limes and the flavor of chewing on raw hop cones and those strike hard and fast, soon followed by layers of diesel and pungent Cannabis flowers. Citrus jumps in next with intense notes of freshly sliced grapefruit and oranges with some berry and floral notes dancing around in the background before closing with some light sage (Cascade hops, I’m looking at you), malt, fresh limes, and a light bite
Mouthfeel: Full, slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly dry on the finish
Overall: This is another winner here. I’ve wanted to score FH Wanderlust for years and never have so jumped on this when I saw it and was rewarded mightily. Like other FH’s, it’s teeming with fresh hop character and the Cascades are well showcased, but also blended well with the others to keep the classic Wanderlust feel. I did get the culinary sage note again which I now attribute to Cascade hops but not sure why and at least it was minimally expressed in this offering. Simply put – find this beer!
