Pours a dark brown/black hue with a light oatmeal/toffee colored, persistent head. Medium to low carbonation. Typical appearance for a stout.
Smells richly of coffee, cocoa, and smoke. Really up front, simple, enjoyable aromatics. Palate confirms with the smoked wood flavor up front, fresh roasted espresso, spent coffee bean flavors back it up with a little bitter dark chocolate.
Palate is really nice, and here is where the beer seems to gain an edge. Really good texture. Alcohol is well integrated. Finish is long and smooth.
Overall a great oatmeal stout that I felt was superior to their year round dry stout. I am looking forward to visiting this brewery more often in the future.
