Pours highly opaque, gold with light orange hue; attractive white clumpy head, above average retention, not zero lacing, but minimal spurts here and there.
Huge fresh hop nose; just jumps out of the glass, strong rind character, lightly fruity, dank, maybe some berry and light tangerine, a very fragrant beer.
Taste, um yea, very rarely do I think the term dank applies well to beer, there is no better word here, full on stinky dense nugs; it’s that perfect combination of weed: pine, prickly spice on the finish; reminds me of kief, lightly fruit laden, and the feel enhances all of it…I want to mention malt cause it’s not devoid, but man I’m sipping on hop nectar, malt is there but it’s riding in the trunk.
Medium body, full but very drinkable considering its abv, clean; full on mouth coating stickiness and a bitterness that lingers accompanied by an almost black pepper feel on the tongue; malt shows in feel more than taste as a light bit residual sweetness.

Featuring fresh Strata hops to produce a FH Wanderjack as indicated on the can's base. (?! No mention of a collab with Barley Brown...) Unfiltered hazy pour, light head. Nose is very modest for a FH beer. Letting it warm slightly helps a great deal to bring forward a very solid dose of hop flavor with plenty of fruit and flowers along with a swell feel and carbonation. In the finish, we have a residual bitterness that fades away and leaves one with a woody, earthy flavor. Overall, dry with subdued maltiness. ABV is 7%.
Quite enjoyable if you take time to enjoy each unhurried sip,

Enjoyed on draft at Breakside's Beaverton taproom, in a Becher glass. (Also enjoyed from a can at home. Date stamp reads "WANDERJACK STRATA 08/28/25".) This review is for the draft version.
The 2025 version of Fresh Hop Wanderjack uses fresh Strata hops from Coleman Agriculture. The Breakside website points out that these hops were grown less than 40 miles from the brewery.
Look:
The beer is a bright, deep gold color with significant hop haze. The thick head of white foam leaves visible rings after each sip, and decays to a thick collar about halfway down the glass.
Smell:
The nose is actually rather subdued, starting with mild citrus, pine, and a decent payload of stone fruits. There's also a whiff of strawberries which gets quite strong by the bottom of the glass, and a good dose of weed which also starts mild and gains strength as the beer warms.
Taste:
The taste also starts rather more subdued than regular Wanderjack, but it doesn't take long to straighten up to its full height. The beer leads with tangerine and mango. Before long, it blossoms with underripe nectarine and strawberry, a handful of blueberries, a breeze of pine, and a big weed smack in the face. Pungent fresh Strata hops in full effect. Malt? I guess. It's pretty far in the background. The finish is weed and indistinct tropical character over an impressive punch of bitterness.
Feel:
Medium-light bodied with a skinny malt body. Strong carbonation lightens the body and provides a ready surface for the fresh hop smells and flavors to float above.
Overall:
Strata is not my favorite hop, but it is vividly displayed here. Once it warms, the beer fairly throbs with vibrant berries and weed. Breakside's fresh hop game is always strong, and 2025 FH Wanderjack is an opening bid that demands attention. More please.
