The appearance was a hazed over orange to brown color with a light half finger white foamy head that quickly subsided and didn’t leave any lacing. The smell had a nice balance of sweet peachy/apple/piney-ness with a light dank quality but still a light sour Brett sort of thing going on. The taste was mainly sweet and carried a light sour note to leave a decent bitter hoppiness roaming around the tongue. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium leaving a decent sessionable quality about it. Overall, I say this was a pretty good sour/wild ale that I would come back to, however, I think I only want to base on the fact that this is more balanced and controls the "brett" in this one.

Aroma is rose petals and pungent strawberry. Flavor has a bit of residual bitterness but brett has firmly taken over. Funky smoothness.

Thanks to eyebereej for sending this bottle! Never heard of it, excited to try it. Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Weyerbacher pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy amber color, with a humongous fluffy eggshell head that fills half the glass and lingers for a long time. Average visible carbonation.

S: Big funky musty Brett, with tons of horse blanket and barnyard, and some citrus and resin hops. A bready malt aroma underneath is nearly completely hidden.

T: Funky barnyard, horse blanket and pineapple Brett goodness with citrus hops, less tropical fruit flavors, and bready malt. Lightly bitter and bone-dry on the finish.

M: Has a tingly, effervescent mouthful, very little alcohol presence, and a medium body.

O: The label suggested that this beer was "good for drinking now or hiding away in the cellar". I've been sitting on it for just over five months, but this evening seemed as good as any to crack it open. At this point, it has possibly the most Brett character of any beer I've had, but it works for me. Wouldn't be an everyday drinker, but very interesting to try once. Recommended if you want to take Brett flavors to the extreme.

Picked up at Belmont Station when I went on my bachelor party weekend to Portland with that BA studmuffin known as Rutager.

A: Deep amber liquid with 1/2" tan coloured creamy head.

S: Lemon peel, lime and brettanomyces.

T: Rich Caramel malts tasting of toffee, maybe C-60 or C-80, along with lemon, lime and a touch of brett.

M: Medium to thick viscosity, somewhat creamy with a medium level of fine carbonation.

O: Very good. I have never had an English style IPA with brett before, especially with a grain bill so reminiscent of Fuller's. According to style, this is more like an English IPA than an American Red. I wish I had cellared this beer, because I bet in a year it would be fantastic.

Appearance. Pours a very hazy orange-amber-brown with 2+ fingers of off-white head that leaves some decent lace.

Smell. Citrusy hops, lightly medicinal and earthy with some toasty caramel malts.

Taste. Again, citrusy hops with a little pine, light acidity, almost lemony and some grainy caramel malts and a touch of dry earthy funk.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium+ carbonation.

Overall. A decent ipa with the nice, but subtle addition of brett. Good stuff for this hot day.

22oz : tulip

Pours a clear, amber orange with a foamy, off white head.

Big fruity, orange citrus hops upfront followed by very faint, tart fruit notes in the nose. The Brett is bit less distinguishable in the taste. There is also a pleasant malt backbone in the flavor.

Medium body, foamy carbonation.

A well done beer. Definite IPA qualities for the most part. The Brett add a faint tart fruit note towards the finish, but not a whole lot that I can pick up overall.

Poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, appearance is glowing, chill hazed auburn / amber, nice brightness. A steady stream of tiny bubbles feeds a big pillowy, creamy head. Light tan and olive tinged, it's got long last and leaves nice lace.

Smell is big bright hops, the orange sweetened by the malt to the marmalade spectrum.

Taste is try, a touch dirty brett, a little gingerbread notes from the malt and hops, but the brett has already really chewed through this, even though barnyard taste of the brett itself is modest, mostly a drying dustiness.

Mouthfeel is very dry, medium light, a touch thin.

Drinkability is OK. The IPA itself is great, at least the aroma. The brett seems to have chewed through all the flavor, leaving a light, quick finish, with only a little hop resin lingering on the aftertaste. Age may develop the brett, but you'll loose the hops, at least the aroma, which is the primary showing.
