650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear amber body. Not much of a head. Thin khaki collar.

Smell - Caramel malt. Vanilla. A little bit of whiskey.

Taste - Caramel malt still the most prominent. Light whiskey. Adds a bit of spice. Oak.

Mouthfeel - A little dry. Oak cuts some body.

Overall - I don't get the point of barrel aging such a weak beer, but it's ok.

Bottle opened on 10.15.13

A - Pours a dark cloudy caramel brown with a small tan head.

S - Molasses, caramel, bourbon.

T - Molasses, dark ripe fruit, bourbon, caramel.

D - Low carbonation with a medium to heavy body.

O - An Adam from the Wood clone, and I am not sure how close it is, but it's a damn good beer.

bought a bomber

thin head, that disappears pretty quick

amber/dark reddish color

smells sweet and rich. bourbon-y for sure

mouthfeel was a little thin. but that was actually nice for this beer

really enjoyed it. not as much of a sipper as I thought it would be. very drinkable actually, but not nearly as thick or intimidating as the Hair of the Dog beers it intended to honor. Breakside makes some very good beer, and I really liked this offereing. nowhere near the complexity of hair of the dog beers and you can tell this was a new effort for them. I would not pay $12-$13 again for it, but this is a really good beer that is damn near sessionable at 10.5%.

well done
