Flesk Brewing Company

I was never able to stop by Flesk in their Lombard digs, but once they moved to the Ice House Mall in Barrington, I was more than happy to make the quick jaunt from the train station after work to sample some wears. Located on what I think is the west end of the building (essentially, the opposite side from Chessie's), the space is pretty open, consisting of a bar straight ahead, seating to both sides, and the brewing apparatus taking up the far right side. It's a homey industrial feel, with accents that lean toward kitschy artisan. Not sure if that makes any sense whatsoever, but it's how I can verbalize my thoughts. The selection is somewhat limited, with ten taps available, usually with only eight in operation, but the variety tends to be pretty decent. During my most recent visit, there were two IPAs, two fruited sours, a dubbel, a stout, a wit, a BPA, and a Vienna, to give an idea. The quality is generally solid, though there are occasional weak spots. The staff is always friendly, they know their beers, and they're speedy with the refills. Usually things are pretty chill and sedate, but some weekend nights can get pretty bustling. No food, but you can bring some in, and dogs are welcome, so there's always a chance for some borker petting. Right on. Overall, I'm glad to have a place so close to my train station and not too far from the house. Good times.
