The Red Lightning beer is a rusty chill hazed red with a thickish beige cap.

It is a nice take on an old school red. It has an aroma of pine, grains and ripe red apple.

Taste is balanced between some pine resin and caramel malts. You have had this beer style a ton of times, but this one is really well done.

Mouth is slightly oily and coating.

Ap - Somewhere between burnt orange, and chestnut. Thick off-white head leaves nice lace.

Ar - Citrus hops, and also caramel and biscuity malts.

T - Sweet. And a bit more fruity hops shine through. Otherwise, it's very similar to the nose.

M - Slightly drying, a bit more bitterness than I personally want. Sweetness lingers a little.

O - A sessionable red ale that will leave you wanting more.

Single finger head with scattered lacing on a murky deep copper and amber body. Aroma of caramel, earthy hops, hint of brown sugar. subtle orange citrus and some wood notes. Flavor follows with a tangy and slightly bitter orange flavor which is present throughout with intermixed caramel and brown sugar flavors. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice degree of hops for this red. The degree of sweetness clashes a little with the tart and bitter citrus but not in an off putting way. Complex and different.
