Thanks to moose3285 for this 22 oz. bottle. The pour is black. Nice roast & chocolate in the nose, no barrel to speak of.
Zardoz evokes little cerebral or salivary response out of the ordinary. Nice roast, malt sweetness, with a sharp oak/grape coming hard on their heels. Once the wine kicks in it dominates like Bob Gibson, erasing all but trace elements of the beer. Finish is sherry, oak. Thick for a pinot, but this is going to go down slowly. Which I vastly prefer, the slowly.
I haven’t had a brew like this that was so wine-forward. Not bad, but not much beer in evidence, either. Pretty good.

On tap at the brewery and listed as 10.1% ABV.
Too much oak in an otherwise fairly good RIS. Surprisingly hoppy and yet loaded with very dark roasted malts.
Body is slightly thin with decent, low carbonation.
Good, but overly burnt aftertaste. Likely to benefit from some aging.

This is a Russian Imperial Stout aged on French oak.
This pours very black, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.
This is pretty good, but far from the best stout I've ever had. The oak aging isn't all that noticeable, it probably smooths the proceedings out a little bit. There's a good amount of dark fruit sweetness, some sweet chocolate, and basically no roasted malt. This is quite sweet, and much better in smaller amounts.
This is pretty thick bodied, with a creamy and sweet mouthfeel, along with a lower level of carbonation.
This is not top-tier at all, but it was still really tasty anyway.
