Pours somewhat watery and forms almost no head from an aggressive pour with just the slightest ring of very light khaki head around the edge of the glass. Sit's pitch black in the glass but with only slight light pass through around the edges. It's kind of crazy but the beer almost smells barrel aged. Definitely vanilla notes, a little bit of chocolate but mostly a nice roast malt backbone. The smells become more pronounced and pleasant as it warms up. The taste is not nearly as complex as the smell. The malt is the most pronounced flavor with just the slightest fermented soyish taste. You get a mix of dark and milk chocolate in the middle that finishes more on the dark side. Vanilla is lost in the actual flavor. Feels silky but somewhat watery. Overall I was impressed by this beer, especially the nose which is rather divine. The rest of the beer kind of falls short to be world class but still great nonetheless.

On tap at the brewery. An "oak barrel aged cherry dark sour".
Essentially black body with a weak tan head and limited lacing.
Smooth, full body with light carbonation.
The aroma carries dark chocolate as well as roasted grains and more than a hint of vanilla.
Flavor: less vanilla than the aroma suggests, and more booze. Cocoa nibs are evident. Good balance. Lightly sweet.
O: nice chocolate-vanilla version of the style.

Poured into a sampler glass at the brewery. Poured a deep dark chocolate brown with minimal head. The malt was like a punch in the mouth. It seemed to have a viscosity of 10w-40 with a flavor that lingered far longer than I would have expected. Magnificent.
