Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Purchased the bottle at the brewery on 6/13/17, consumed a few weeks later. Poured from the 750mL bottle into an El Catador teku glass.
A: Dark reddish brown that's nearly opaque. A low amount of visible carbonation, and forms a thin off-white head that fails to stick around for long.
S: Big acetic acid and some vinegar - puckeringly sour on the nose. Sour cherries and malic acid, lightly toasted malts and some oak. Not a terrible aroma, but this is abutting (if not over) an acceptable acetic character even for an Oud Bruin on the nose.
T: A slug of acetic acid up front. Holy crap. There are sour cherries, citric acid, mild malts...I think. Mild vinous and oak tannins and then almost a soured grape juice character. But an absolute hammering of acetic vinegar.
M: A medium body, with low carbonation sensation. Alcohol flavors are present but not obnoxious.
O: I love sour beers, including oud bruins. They’re some of my favorites. This crosses the line, keeps chugging, and doesn't look back. I can think of only one or two other sours that exceeds this level of ludicrous, and they're the only sour beers I've dumped. Really this was too much vinegar and just too sour to be drinkable. As I’ve said - Aardwolf has had hit after hit for me in the dark/roasty and hoppy realms. Their sour beers really need work though; and this was the worst of the ones I've had so far. A clear miss here.

Welp, we were told this was "Duchesse on steroids,” and they weren't kidding. This is straight up balsamic vinegar, but without any of the smoothness you might expect from a reduction. There's a bit of char and barrel, toasted sesame and red grape, but it's really acetic with an acidic burn, sticky mild body, round froth and dry finish.

On tap at the brewery.
Essentially black body with a decent tan head and lacing.
Smooth, medium-full body with medium-light carbonation.
For someone who really dislikes vinegar, this smells awful, The aroma carries vinegar as well as odd industrial chemicals one would not want to consume.
Trying to get past this, I drink enough to geive a description. It follows the aroma but with a substantial aprune flavor too.
O: yuch!
