Hazy amber-red with a thin creamy tan collar.
This beer brings the candy apple with aplomb. A sour apple center also exhibits some bittering apple skin, and even a caramel apple aftertaste that's really spot on except for its exceptional sourness. In addition to some grape and brandy, there's a smoothing nutty nougat that also seems to be added by the barrel.
Tingly, medium-light body, semi-dry to dry with a medium froth.

Clear-ish (translucent with slight haze) reddish-brown brew; virtually nonexistent head, quickly fading to nothing.
The nose implies vinegar and oak, with hints of vanilla.
On the palate, this is very sour, coming in perhaps to the left of the most sour American Wild Ales, but not far. Major impressions are of apples, vinegar, oak, and brandy. There's a balancing sweetness, likely from the brandy and bourbon - the latter of which is not particularly identifiable in this blend.
Despite the nearly abrasive sourness, there is only a moderate pucker from this brew. Quite easy to drink.
This was an absolute pleasure. A shockingly well made and ambitious sour.
