Excellent head production, especially for the style, with equally nice retention and lacing.
Bourbon, chocolate, and raspberry are immediately noticeable on the nose, with more subtle notes of vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, and caramel.
Flavor is similar, with raspberry dancing back and forth with bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla. The vanilla becomes more prominent on the second half. Cream, toffee, espresso, and brown sugar from the malt.
Full bodied and creamy; mild but present heat.
This is a really excellent beer. I'm not a big raspberry fan, but they are added here with care and touch, providing an accent but never dominating. The barrel time is about perfect, itself also not dominating but very noticeable.
