Lovely beer from start to finish, with good head production and excellent retention, and a milky-tan color at the edge between the head and body.
More so than any of the other variants, dry chocolate emerges at the forefront here, both on the nose and the body. The raspberry blends with the Merlot barrel treatment perfectly; it is impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins. The resultant liquid is a decadent but not over-sweet blend of bitter chocolate, red grapes, oak, and cream. The roasted malt body is not lost along the way, either, imparting secondary tones of brown sugar and toffee.
A touch slick, but exceptionally drinkable.
This is perhaps the best Something Swanky variant I have had; all of the flavors just come together perfectly.
