Modest head production and similar retention, although a nice foamy tan ring lines the glass, along with some oily residue atop a deep purplish-black body.
Rather vinous nose, with the oak, brandy, and raspberry all combining to present a sour red note, going along with bitter, powdery chocolate.
Slightly sour up front, but that quickly is replaced by a smooth, easy sweetness - not dessert-stout levels of sweetness, just a mild, creamy, accessible sweetness, driven by apple brandy barrels, and accented by chocolate and raspberries.
Easy and slick on the palate. Could use a little more heft and/or liveliness. It's actually a wonderful mouthfeel for a straight imperial milk porter, but the brandy barrel and chocolate give it a flavor profile that begs for a slightly heftier body.
