Two glasses poured from the same bottle, with roughly the same force. One produced almost zero fizzy head; the other, a nice, billowing pink mass with decent retention. Body is a deep, pinkish red.
The nose features some sharp sourness, oak, and red wine, but the feature is definitely on sweeter fruity tones of pomegranate and cherry. Slightly musty; slightly syrupy, although I suspect that actually comes more from the red wine barrels than the cherries.
Surprisingly sweet; neither particularly sour nor funky. Focus is definitely on cherries and red wine influence (basically, red wine flavor without the booziness), along with a touch of oak; the pomegranate, while present, is mostly noticeable by the added sweetness. A bit of toasty brown sugar on the finish, which is a pleasant surprise. Much fuller bodied than anticipated at 6.5% ABV.
